Practices, courses and paths
1. In what language are these courses and practices?
All courses and practices are both in English and Italian. You can switch the language anytime from the menu and practice in the language you prefer!
2. I’m a beginner, where do I start from?
The first course I recommend you to start with is ‘Day Starter: Create a habit’ that offers you 21 practices of low intensity that gradually increase, giving you not only physical but also mental preparation. ‘Discover mindful movement’ that evolves in 7 days can also help you become familiar with the practice and understand its holistic approach. You always have the option to stop the video and repeat a movement or sequence at your own pace and rhythm.
3. What’s the difference among the courses, practices and paths?
A thematic subdivision is created in the various courses which is explained in detail on the page of each course. The goal and intensity of each practice / path may vary but the key in common is the mindful approach: that is because only through awareness can we achieve any goal!
4. Are these courses for everyone?
These courses are for those who understand movement as an integral part of life; they are designed for those who feel limited in their movement when it happens only on a physical level. They are especially designed for those who feel the need to bring awareness and improvement into their life on several levels: physical, mental, emotional, energetic, spiritual, relational. Mostly, these practices are for whomever has a body, a mind, and a heart and wants to bring them into balance!
5. Are these courses about yoga, meditation of functional training?
SATI Dynamic (Sensorial Awareness Training & Inspiration) is an innovative system of methods and practices based on physical, emotional and spiritual movement sequences. They flow together in order to excite awareness, perception and imagination while improving the overall physical condition. In two words: awareness training!
The different modules that compose the method aim not only to stimulate conditional and coordinative skills. They explore relationships among joints, muscles and postural alignments through active observation and conscious breathing. Moreover, they bring light to emotional blocks, expressive limits and unconstructive thinking patterns. Therefore, they offer an acquisition of knowledge on all levels of our existence. Physical, emotional, mental, spiritual and relational.
The method is built based on the following practices:
- Yoga (Ashtanga / Raja Yoga)
- Active observation
- Functional & core training
- Bioenergetics
- Music Therapy
- Various meditation techniques (Zen meditation, breathing meditation, active / dynamic meditation)
- Mindfulness
SATI Dynamic, Compared to these practices, it differs in the intention to find the “middle way” through their fundamentals so as to effectively apply them in the present moment and culture.
6. How many times a week and for how long should I practice?
The ideal is to practice a little every day. Even 20 minutes is fine! The important thing, especially at the beginning, is to set yourself achievable goals, such as starting with 20 minutes of practice – even just to make an appointment with yourself and create a habit. Then as you move forward you will feel that your body will ask for more, so you can – when you feel like it – follow the longer practices. One rest day per week is also needed to compensate – if you chose a more intense practice the day before. But there are some relaxing practices that can also help you on recovery days.
If it is not possible for you to practice daily, at least try to maintain a consistency of three times a week.
7. I have a particular medical condition, can I still do these practices?
Before starting these practices consult your doctor to have his approval and to receive specific indications for your situation.
If your doctor is not familiar with this practice you can find a common language explaining the positions by type of movement, for example forward bending, twisting, etc …
You can do the same if you are following a rehabilitation program with your physiotherapist.
In any case, remember that these practices are not aimed at a performance result – even if in the end your performance and your sports condition improves visibly: the practices are awareness training paths – so your movement will be adapted to YOUR condition of moving. Day after day, with your active observation and presence, you will be able to guide your movement and expand your limits.
8. I’m pregnant, can I do these practices?
Before starting consult your doctor for his approval. Each pregnancy is different and it is therefore necessary to have specific indications.
If your doctor is not familiar with this practice, you can find a common language explaining the positions by type of movement, for example forward bending, twisting, etc …
The first trimester is the most delicate. If you have never done Yoga or any type of training and movement in general, it is necessary that you follow a specific Prenatal course.
If you are already an athletic person, even if your body is used to movement, you need to know the adjustments to be made to the various positions, and what to avoid, so also in this case you must take a Prenatal course.
In any case, there are some practices that you can follow safely, so contact me and we will study a path for you!
9. When I have my period, can I practice?
Each of us experiences the days of menstruation differently and therefore you have to decide based on how you feel, listening and evaluating what your body asks of you.
If you are in a lot of pain and feel tired, it would be best to let your body rest. If you still want to practice, you can choose a relaxing practice or a guided meditation.
10. At what time of day is it best to practice?
Morning is the ideal time. This will give you the energy to face the day and it will be more difficult for various commitments to come between you and your practice. You can of course also practice in the evening or in the afternoon, but if you choose a very energizing practice, avoid doing it just before going to bed.
11. Is it necessary to practice on an empty stomach?
Yes, wait until you have digested before practicing, even if you do meditation – give your body the opportunity to be present in the practice without interference from other processes taking place. If you practice in the morning and can’t stay on a completely empty stomach, drink herbal tea or eat something that gives you energy without weighing you down, like some dried fruit.
12. How can I be sure I am practicing the exercises and sequences correctly?
When we train our awareness there is no “right” or “wrong”: what is most required of you is to be PRESENT in your movement! All practices are well guided, with no incomprehensible terminology. If you can be present in your body and in your breath, the exercises and practices are only the path to free your most authentic movement! You will be amazed!
