I hear the calling of the mountain…

Allow this land to captivate you and give yourself the thrill of an adventure to the legendary Mount Olympus!

Mount Olympus – 2917 meters altitude – is the highest mountain in Greece and is a place with a truly unique and fascinating history.
Since the time of the ancient Greeks, Mount Olympus was considered the “sacred mountain of the gods” and was a territory not accessible to humans.
This mountain, however, is linked not only to ancient Greece but also to the figure of Alexander the Great, who often visited the city of Dion at the foot of Olympus.
Over the centuries this place has inspired myths and legends and bewitched writers, poets, rulers and soldiers.

The Mount lies in an area north of Greece, between Thessaly and Macedonia, and is part of Mount Olympus National Park, which was established in 1938. Due to its great natural and cultural importance, Mount Olympus was declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1981.

This area represents a place of outstanding excellence where the protection of the natural environment takes place in complete harmony with the social and economic development of local communities. There are numerous villages with an ancient history that have developed at the feet of Mount Olympus and have been able to preserve the appearance of yesteryear by carrying on traditions with a history dating back thousands of years.

The park covers an area of about 120 square kilometers and holds within it a truly unique floral and faunal heritage. More than 1,500 different types of plants can be found here, on a first zone of evergreen broadleaf trees (between 300 and 500 meters) to which beech, fir and coniferous forests are added, and ascending we find the unforested high mountain grasslands. In terms of wildlife, however, more than 30 species of mammals and hundreds of species of birds, reptiles, insects and butterflies can be found.

Petrostrougas Refuge

Built in a beautiful forest of centuries-old beech and rhododendron trees, Petrostrougas Refuge on Mount Olympus is run by the Hellenic Rescue Team.

Built in a beautiful forest, at an altitude of 1,940 meters, visitors can enjoy not only the wonderful views, cooked food and drinks, the warmth of fireplaces and wood-burning stoves in all areas of the refuge, but also the hospitality of the managers. The shelter can accommodate up to 72 people and has been renovated through the volunteer work of Hellenic Rescue Team members, making it more functional and warm for the winter months. In addition, a helipad for emergency cases has been created and maintained in the area surrounding the shelter.

Giosos Apostolidis Refuge

The “Giosos Apostolidis” refuge was built in the summer of 1961 by the Association of Greek Mountaineers (S.E.O.) of Thessaloniki at an altitude of 2,697 meters, in the Prophet Elia-Epano Toumba cleft, on the Olympian Muses Plateau. It is the only building not only in Greece but also in the Balkans at an altitude of 2,697 meters.

In 1962 the second floor was added, thus increasing the number of guests up to 80.

I accept the challenge!

What they say about our SATI Dynamic experiences!

Elena M. Buenos Aires, Argentina

I went to the retreat knowing Evi ‘s work and method but having no expectations about the retreat. So, my surprise was huge when I realized that the every day work was strictly designed in a way that you must work not only in body but also in mind.

Charlotte L. Canada

I feel so great, so light and you know what? My fear has shifted and I just feel so much braver. I don’t really know how else to describe it, but new courage. Thank you so much for everything again I cannot express my gratitude! SO much love!

Lou M. New York, USA

An invigorating experience, in a beautiful setting, with a caring teacher. Highly recommended. Thanks for everything, Evi!

Katerina M. Athens, Greece
